Hi, everyone. here is a pic of myself and my two daughters. Together with my wife Alison, we have just returned from three weeks holiday driving up the coast of NSW and holidaying in Byron Bay. Plenty of trucks on the Hume, I spent a night listening to them thunder past our camp site at Gundagai.
So many more trucks on the road at night, it's a nocturnal occupation, distance and lights, and of making depots by dawn. Also saw many trucks pulled over by the side of the road in road stops, and often wondered if the drivers were sleeping or perhaps reading or writing their own poems.
Years ago I used to drive delivery vans around the suburbs of Melbourne, delivering shoes to shopping centre stores and then laminex to joinery and kitchen centres. It was a way of getting to know the different threads of the city. much like truckies who haul interstate and who become familiar with the many Australias that exist in this country.
